This is my first bass guitar, although I've been playing six-string guitars for almost 60 years. When I received it, I spent some time setting it up (tuning, adjusting string height, etc.). It plays quite well for such an inexpensive instrument, but I found the neck length a bit challenging after years of playing guitar. So, I returned it and bought an Ibanez short scale, which suits me better. If you're a beginner and have never played guitar before, this might be perfect for you. For the price, it's a good quality piece of gear, and if I had adjusted to the scale length, I would have kept it. It's not a Fender (and doesn't cost like one), but it's good enough for enjoyment and occasional gigs. Recommended.
