While I'm new to bass, I'm familiar with guitars and aspects of their quality. I will say, that I was skeptical of some of the reviews. However, after receiving the bass, I'm pleasantly surprised! As for the amp that comes with this set, I'm less than impressed, which is why I'm giving the review 4 stars. It sounds like a basic amp that makes the input louder than the output. However, the amp has a lot of hum due to improper grounding. When you're playing you might not notice this, but when you're not touching the instrument, the ground will float and the hum returns. Thankfully, I'm an experienced electrical engineer and was able to correct the issue by installing a 3-prong outlet on the amp, and doing a little rewiring to connect earth-ground to the circuit board ground.
All in all, definitely worth the money to buy this combo if you're new to bass and need some gear to learn on.
